Bruntingthorpe is a 660-acre site, and a unique asset and a key piece of knowledge infrastructure for the regional economy. The 3.2km runway is one of the longest in the UK and provides the spine for a 6.5km vehicular circuit. The site provides a base for technical testing, innovation, R&D and events across a range of sectors.

Marrons Planning manages the relationship with the local planning authority for the client and provides planning consultancy advice on a series of projects. Recent planning permissions secured for the client at Bruntingthorpe include a 60,000 sq. ft. manheim vehicle auction facility, a 58,000 sq. ft. vehicle refurbishment facilities, an aircraft recycling and storage facility (unique planning permission of its type in the UK), a 3,000 sq. ft. track monitoring facility and a 30,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose events and media centre and on-site residential worker accommodation.

The planning applications have included a large element of consultation with local communities as some aspects of the site and its developments, including increased traffic, noise from aircraft, and a large increase in vehicles passing through local villages has caused concern and resulted in much press interest
