Marrons scales up Sheffield operations with five new hires

Marrons | -

Marrons is continuing to invest in Sheffield, strengthening its multi-disciplinary capabilities in response to rising development activity and regeneration across South Yorkshire.

With sustained demand for housing delivery, urban regeneration and infrastructure-led growth across the region, the consultancy is expanding its Sheffield team to provide more integrated planning, masterplanning and urban design, and transport expertise – supporting clients in navigating an increasingly complex policy and delivery environment.

As part of this growth, Marrons has launched a dedicated transport planning service and further strengthened its planning, and masterplanning and urban design teams.

Transport director Anna Meer has been appointed to lead the new transport planning team, drawing on extensive private and public sector experience to provide early-stage, actionable solutions.

She is supported by associate transport planner Kurt Hardy and transport planner Will Groves, who will focus on technical highways design, sustainable transport strategies and transport assessments.

Anna said: “We’re witnessing sustained demand across South Yorkshire to bring forward policy-compliant development that is genuinely deliverable in infrastructure terms.

“Transport plays a critical role in that – whether it’s unlocking constrained sites, supporting sustainable travel patterns or aligning with wider regeneration objectives.

“Embedding transport planning at the earliest stages allows us to provide clearer, more robust strategies that respond to both local authority expectations and the practical realities of delivery.”

Senior urban designer Rebecca Clark has strengthened the masterplanning and urban design team, bringing valuable insight from her work on regeneration and mixed-use projects within local authorities.

Also joining Marrons is assistant planner Gabby Pennant, who will contribute to planning strategy and strategic land promotion.

Megan Wilson, planning director at Marrons, who is based in Sheffield, said: “South Yorkshire is undergoing a significant period of change, with a strong pipeline of regeneration and growth opportunities across Sheffield and the surrounding areas.

“The planning environment is becoming more complex, with greater emphasis on design quality, sustainability and infrastructure delivery. Clients need advice that brings all these elements together coherently.

“Our continued investment in Sheffield builds a team that is able to provides integrated, commercially aware guidance from the outset and supports projects through every stage of the development process.”
