Up to 50 new homes approved for Droitwich Spa

Planning | Blog

Outline planning permission has been granted for a new residential development of up to 50 homes in Droitwich Spa, following our support, on behalf of Marriott Land.

The 2.32-hectare site – located to the north of Newland Lane, to the south east of the historic town of Droitwich – will provide a sustainable, well-connected community that delivers a mix of housing types and tenures. Up to 40% of the new homes will be affordable – helping to meet local housing needs.

The scheme will include high-quality green infrastructure, such as a new play area accessible to both new and existing residents, as well as enhanced landscaping to promote biodiversity.

Residents will benefit from the site’s excellent accessibility, with bus connections from Wildlife Way, cycling and pedestrian links along National Cycle Route 45, and close proximity to Droitwich Spa town centre, Worcester and the M5 motorway.

The development is expected to generate a range of social, economic and environmental benefits for the area. In addition to delivering much-needed new and affordable housing, the development will increase local spending in support of Droitwich’s businesses, and enhance green infrastructure through new planting, sustainable drainage systems and a measurable net gain in biodiversity.

Reiss Sadler, associate director, said: “This development is in a highly sustainable location and will deliver real benefits for Droitwich Spa. The scheme will provide high-quality housing in a growing community, with excellent access to local amenities, public transport and active travel routes. Importantly, it will help address local housing need, with a significant proportion of affordable homes.”

Jack Barnes, planner, added: “By carefully considering the site’s setting, transport links and existing surrounding residential development, this development will create a well-integrated, attractive place to live. We’re particularly pleased the proposals deliver sustainable development with significant economic and environmental gains, and we look forward to seeing the scheme progress.”
