Architecture team expands with trio of hires
Architecture | News
Planning and design consultancy Marrons has strengthened its architectural team with a trio of hires.
Principal architect Chloe Willis and architectural assistant Shannon Lander will be working from Marrons’ Bristol hub, while Zubair Hussain, also an architectural assistant, will be based in Birmingham.
Chloe brings with her more than 10 years’ experience specifically within the heritage and residential sectors. As a RIBA Conservation Registrant, she specialises in working with historic fabric, such as listed buildings, and projects within conservation areas.
After qualifying, Chloe worked at Barton Wilmore for five years on projects with a mix of scale and type, before spending time working with Austin Design Works in the Cotswolds on sustainable designs, often in sensitive locations for private clients.
In her new role, Chloe will be responsible for running architecture projects and helping to lead Marrons’ Bristol-based design team. She will also be supporting homeowners, private landowners, commercial and developer clients to make the most out of the opportunities their building or site has to offer.
Chloe said: “Marrons brings a proactive and positive approach to planning through its multi-disciplinary teams’ extensive and practical knowledge of the built environment.
“Helping to build Marrons’ design offer – from concept through to delivery of architecture projects – was an exciting prospect, and I am looking forward to working alongside colleagues across all disciplines to deliver exciting designs and rewarding outcomes for our clients.”
With more than five years’ experience within commercial and residential design, Shannon joins Marrons from Adam Architecture, where she specialised in heritage sites and listed buildings. In her new role, Shannon will be working within the Bristol architecture team, producing: planning and technical drawings, supporting planning documents, and 3D models and renders.
Shannon said: “I am thrilled to have joined Marrons and be working within an expert multidisciplinary team. I am looking forward to further developing my architectural skills and knowledge.”
Zubair, who has more than eight years’ experience, has joined Marrons from Synergy Architects, where he was involved with various large-scale commercial and bespoke schemes.
He will be working within the Birmingham design team, helping to deliver architectural projects and producing relevant planning documents and drawings, while working closely with clients and consultants.
Zubair said: “I was attracted to Marrons’ unique understanding and commitment to supporting and recognising everyone’s contribution and realising the power of collaboration and team. I am looking forward to playing my part in the consultancy’s continued growth of its architecture practice.”
The Marrons architecture and design team – which also includes chartered architects Alex Craggs, Tom Macklen and Will Thomas – was recently registered as a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Chartered Practice, reflecting its commitment to delivering the highest quality professional services, ethical and best practice standards in architecture.
Tom Macklen, director of architecture at Marrons in Bristol, said: “It is great to have Chloe, Shannon and Zubair on board. Their appointments support our positive growth plans in the South West and West Midlands, and expand our heritage and residential design expertise.
“We have significant growth plans in the business, and all three will help support our ever-expanding UK-wide client base. Their invaluable experience and expertise will bolster the team, and bring new ideas and skills to strengthen our architectural and design offerings.”
Marrons’ roots are in planning, but the consultancy has since added urban design, socio-economics, heritage and architecture to its list of services, with locations up and down the country – including the Midlands, London, the South East and, most recently, the South West with the addition of a Bristol-based team of architecture specialists.
