Expanding our Northern Footprint with Associate Director Hire

We are proud to be accelerating our northern growth strategy with the appointment of experienced planning associate director Max Kidd-Rossiter in Manchester.

Max joins from Lichfields, where he progressed from planner to associate director, bringing extensive experience in residential, industrial and strategic land promotion projects across the North West.

His expertise includes coordinating development consortiums, managing major planning applications, housing land assessments and representing clients at local plan examinations.

Notable projects include managing residential schemes of up to 300 dwellings, overseeing Encirc’s 650,000 sq ft automated distribution centre application, and coordinating housing land supply assessments and development plan representations across Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside.

Max will be responsible for helping to grow a team in Manchester, with a focus on supporting private sector clients, landowners, developers and public sector bodies with a full range of planning services.

Max said: “I have seen Marrons’ impressive growth and national presence in recent years. Joining now allows me to build a trusted presence in the North West and help realise Marrons’ ambitions in the northern market.

The opportunity to establish a dynamic team – while supporting clients with commercially grounded, pragmatic planning advice – is something I’m incredibly passionate about.

The North West is experiencing rapid change, with growing pressures for new homes, high-quality employment space and supporting infrastructure. Combined with national planning reforms and progress on several local development plans, there is a real opportunity to help shape sustainable growth in the region.

Following significant growth in recent years, recording a 45% increase in revenue in financial year 2024/25, taking turnover to £9.6 million, we have expanded nationally, opening new offices in Sheffield, Leeds and Tunbridge Wells, and relocating teams in Bristol, Nottingham and London to larger, more agile workspaces.

We plan to open a Manchester office this year – marking the next phase in our strategic expansion across the north of England.

Head of Marrons Brian Mullin said: This is a landmark moment for Marrons. Max’s experience across the North West and his strong leadership skills make him the ideal person as we look to establish a Manchester office. His appointment, alongside our northern expansion, reflects our commitment to growing our presence and delivering high-quality, effective planning and design solutions for our clients.

Dan Mitchell, head of our Leeds office and responsible for growth into Manchester, added: “We’re committed to growing our presence in the north and providing clients with expert, practical advice. Max’s appointment enables us to offer greater local support, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to shaping sustainable development in this fast-changing region. We are looking to further grow our teams in the north and are on the lookout for commercially minded planners and designers.”

We are a multi-disciplinary development consultancy delivering planning, architecture, urban design, masterplanning, heritage and socio-economic services to a range of clients across the UK.
