Transforming a workplace into a connected, future‑focused
We have reimagined the Aviva Centre at Lake View as both a revitalised workplace and the foundation for a wider regeneration vision. Through targeted architectural interventions and strategic thinking, we have transformed how the building is experienced — from first arrival through to everyday use — while testing its long‑term potential as part of a sustainable, transit‑oriented neighbourhood.
A new identity through arrival and first impressions
We began by redefining the building’s front door. The existing rotunda has been transformed into a clear, welcoming and highly legible reception space, improving circulation while establishing a strong and confident identity.
A central reception desk sits beneath suspended feature lighting, framed by vertical timber slats and living green walls that introduce warmth, texture and a biophilic connection to nature. Carefully considered materials and integrated lighting enhance the geometry of the circular space, creating a sense of clarity, calm and arrival.
Externally, we extended this approach into the landscape. By introducing structured planting, integrated seating and subtle signage, we created a cohesive threshold — one that connects building and public realm while strengthening the overall presence of the Aviva Centre.

A workplace designed around people
At the heart of the building, we reimagined the canteen and servery as more than a functional space — transforming it into a vibrant, multi‑use social hub.
We introduced a layered material palette — timber, green walls, mesh ceilings and feature lighting — to create a warm, hospitality‑inspired environment that feels relaxed and engaging. A mix of seating typologies — from communal tables and banquettes to café pods and window seating — supports different ways of working, meeting and unwinding.
This flexibility allows the space to adapt throughout the day, promoting interaction, wellbeing and a stronger sense of community within the workplace.
Unlocking a wider regeneration opportunity
Beyond the building itself, we have developed a strategic feasibility vision that explores how the wider Lake View campus could evolve over time.
Currently dominated by surface car parking, the site presents a significant opportunity. We have tested how it could be transformed into a permeable, mixed‑use neighbourhood, combining residential, commercial and community uses in a highly accessible location adjacent to Bristol Parkway.
Our vision introduces a network of streets, public spaces and green infrastructure that reconnect the site to its surroundings and unlock its lake setting — creating a more sustainable, biodiverse and people‑focused environment.
