Roland is a chartered town planner with 20 years’ experience delivering residential-led projects across the South East and outer London.
Roland advises housebuilders, land promoters, developers, public institutions, councils, and private landowners, offering clear, strategic guidance to unlock opportunities and add value to land and assets.
He leads a wide range of planning applications and land promotion strategies – from garden communities and urban extensions to village growth and infill schemes – with a focus on achieving sustainable growth and planning outcomes that support long-term value for clients.
Roland has particular expertise in Green Belt sites, especially in relation to grey belt land. He draws on previous experience in Green Belt reviews to support strategic land promotion, providing clients with detailed, policy-aware advice. He leads Marrons’ grey belt policy analysis updates (published in partnership with the LPDF) and actively monitors national appeal decisions to keep clients informed of evolving policy and case law.
As an experienced expert witness, Roland regularly represents clients at planning appeals, presenting robust, evidence-based cases to support development proposals.
